The necessity of the business |

* The existing computer system for process control established by Korea South East Power Co. in the central control room
of Combined Cycle Power Plant Bundang is a core facility that checks and operates the operation condition of the whole
facility in running the power plant. It is ABB Procontrol P13/42 DCS, block #1 is a PRAUT system built in 1992 and block
#2 is a PMS system built in 1997. But, it was necessary to improve the system due to the difficulties of repairs and
maintenances, the deterioration of capacity and the limit of function, as the facility is getting aged. Thus, Korea South East
Power Co. pushed ahead with the international bid and BNF Technology received an order in the competition with
promising foreign venders based on the distinguished technique and price competition. The reduction of facility
investment cost and the freedom from technology governance to autonomy through this business have a great ripple
effect to the power plant business in general with the successful business performance. |

The necessity of the business |

Computer system for process control built in 1992 in the central control room of GS Power Co. Bucheon combined heat
and power plant was MIDAS-8000 of Japan¡¯s Mitsubishi Heavy Industries. It is the core facility that checks and operates
the whole operation condition in running the power plant. But, as the system are getting aged, the initialization due to
the malfunction of them were so frequent and the difficulty of repairing and maintaining due to the production stoppage
of spare parts, especially due to the limit of the facility function, it is difficult to gain the operation data fit for the user¡¯s
additional requirement. In solving this problem, it is possible to upgrade it to the latest version of Mitsubishi Heavy
Industries with the excessive investment cost. Thus, we reviewed the technology in multi angles and we judged that we
can upgrade it with our own technology. Then we started to develop new computerization system by using the BNF
Technology developed ARIDES (Realtime Information DEployment System) development platform. |
